American singer Jason Mraz will perform in a special acoustic evening with Noel “Toca” Rivera in Taman Bhagawan in Nusa Dua on Wednesday night, in a series of acoustic dates celebrating the 10th anniversary of their independently released classic album, “Live and Acoustic 2001”.
Promoted by 3 Ocean Live and Asia Live, the acoustic evening tour will include performances in the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia and New Zealand.
This will be the second time Mraz will have come to Indonesia after playing in the Java Jazz Festival in Jakarta in 2009.
“We are holding this concert in Bali because we played in Jakarta last time, and we want to have a different experience, and also our entire tour is based on a long list of places we have always wanted to go, and Bali is one of those places.”
“We have no expectation for tomorrow, but I just want to see lots of singing, lots of excitement from the audience, and a big share of experience. Lots of ‘ooh’ and ‘aah’.”
The journey is being touted as more than just a tour concert. The worldwide journey will see Mraz celebrate music’s lasting power to inspire change and help others through global citizens, the promoters say.
The trek will see Mraz and Rivera travel the planet, immersing themselves in local culture, seeking unique performances and treasured surf spots, the promoters say.
Mraz first met with Toca Rivera in 2000. Rivera invited Mraz to join the eponymous trio he fronted alongside his brother Carlos. When Carlos decided to take time off, Jason and Toca continued to collaborate as a duo, earning acclaim and passionate audience responses wherever they performed.
