Malaysia beats Thailand 2-1

Defending champion Malaysia defeated Thailand 2-1 on Wednesday in a group A soccer match of the 2011 SEA Games.

Substitute player Ramlan Izzaq Faris was the Malaysian team hero after scoring the winning goal in the 85^th minute.

Malaysia scored first in the first half with a goal by Bakhtiar Baddrol in the 24^th minute, but Thailand leveled in the 78^th minute with a goal by Natarid Thammaroddodpon.

With the win, Malaysia tops group A with four points from two matches, followed by Indonesia with three points from one match.
