Approximately 1,000 employees of state-owned telecommunications giant Telkomsel plan to stage a rally in Jakarta on Thursday to protest against the company management's alleged failure to improve their welfare.
“We will gather at Wisma Mulia, Telkomsel headquarters on Jl. Gatot Subroto, and wait until the management answer our demands,” the company's worker union (Sepakat) secretary-general Yogi S. Bahar said Thursday as quoted by kompas.com.
Among the employees’ demands is a salary increase based on annual inflation, house and car allowances and health insurance.
Telkomsel earlier agreed to increase workers' salaries, but many employees said the amount was much less than what they had expected.
“The strike will end once the management fulfills our demands,” Yogi said.
