Indonesia and Thailand are tied, each having gained two gold medals so far on the first day of the 26th SEA Games.

All four gold medals were obtained in rowing sports on Lake Cipule in Karawang regency, east of Jakarta.

Rower Eka Octarorianus contributed two of the gold medals for Indonesia, one in the Men's single 1000-meter canoe event, and the other after pairing with Anwar Tarra in the Men's double 1000-meter canoe event.

The gold medals for Thailand came from Men's single 1000-meter kayak race and Men's double 1000-meter kayak race.

"I didn't expect this at all, because we had strong competitors from other countries," Eka said. (mim)
