Minister praises RI athletes’ performance at SEA Games

Youth and Sports Minister Andi Mallarangeng has publicly praised the Indonesian contingent’s performance at the SEA Games held in Palembang and Jakarta.

“Our athletes have shown us enormous spirit. They fight like champions and deserve the medals,” Andi said Sunday as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.

Indonesia has won 23 gold, 15 silver and 7 bronze medals to date and is leading the overall competition.

Andi said that the government would fulfill its promise to grant every athlete winning a medal a bonus.

“I don’t mind giving up the last penny as bonuses for our athletes. That is the proper price we want to pay,” Andi said.
