A team of surgeons at Andi Makassau General Hospital in Pare-Pare, South Sulawesi, managed to remove two nails from Safirah Putri, the infant daughter of Andi Ibrahim and Sarifah.
Safirah had thus far undergone two surgeries, wherein a total of 28 nails had been removed.
“We have identified metals that resemble nails in her body and through an hour-long surgery we finally managed to remove them,” surgeon Kamarudin said on Tuesday.
He said the team intended to conduct a thorough check-up of Safirah to ensure that she was safe. There has not been any definitive explanation of how the nails punctured her body.
