After playing in the US Major League Soccer (MLS) final on Nov. 20, David Beckham and his team LA Galaxy will fly to Jakarta to play in an exhibition match against an Indonesian all-star team on Nov. 30, the game's promoter says.
Mahaka Sports president director Hasani Abdulgani said that although the LA Galaxy team consisted of a number of star players such as Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane, the match would be cancelled if David Beckham did not participate.
“There is a point in the contract between us and the LA Galaxy that says that if Beckham does not come along, the deal will be off,” he said Wednesday as quoted by tribunnews.com.
He explained that Beckham’s appearance in Indonesia may prove to be an emotional one as it could be his last game as a Galaxy player.
“LA Galaxy assured that Beckham’s contract would expire in December. So this tour could be Beckham’s farewell game with the team,” he said.
Hasani said that tickets for the match, which will be held in the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta, will range from Rp 75,000 to Rp 750,000.
LA Galaxy is also expected to hold a coaching clinic and meet fans during its time in Jakarta, he said.
