A- A A+

Three community health centers (Puskesmas) in Solo, Central Java, opened clinics on Wednesday for people wanting to quit smoking.

The clinics, called Klinik Berhenti Merokok (quit-smoking clinic) were established at the Purwodiningratan, Kratonan and Penumping health centers following the opening of the city’s first anitsmoking clinic at the Nusukan health center in October.

Each clinic will be managed by a doctor and three nurses and equipped with tools for checking pulmonary functions and carbon dioxide levels in blood.

Treatment, consultations and drugs will be given for free.

“Many smokers want to quit but have no idea where to go. These clinics are here to help them,” Solo health agency chief Siti Wahyuningsih said as quoted by kompas.com.
