Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Saud Usman Nasution says that the Malaysian police
have arrested two Indonesians on terrorism charges. The suspects, he added, were
linked to the Abu Omar cell that was recently disrupted.
“These two
men are allegedly helping the terrorist cell smuggle firearms from the southern
Philippines to Indonesia through Tawau, Sabah, Malaysia.
They are currently being questioned by the Malaysian counter terrorism unit,”
Saud said on Thursday as quoted by kompas.com.
He said that
besides the two Indonesians, the Malaysian police had arrested 10 Malaysian
accomplices.
The antiterrorism
unite Detachment 88 is currently investigating the Abu Omar terrorist cell
following the arrest of its six members in various places several weeks ago.
