Indonesian weightlifter Jadi Setiadi grabbed the silver medal in the senior men's 56 kilogram group in the ongoing 26th SEA Games in Palembang, South Sumatra, on Friday.
Vietnamese lifter Tran Le Quoc Toan seized the gold with a best lifting of 128 kilograms in snatch and a total of 280 kilograms in the clean and jerk, while Thach Kim Tuan, also from Vietnam, took the bronze with a best lifting of 124 kilograms in snatch and a total of 271 kilograms in the clean and jerk.
Jadi lifted 124 kilograms in the snatch and 278 kilograms in clean and jerk.
However, he lost his opportunity to lift more weight in his second clean and jerk attempt, when he tried to lift 154 kilograms.
Commenting on his performance, Jadi said he had not warmed up enough prior to the second attempt.
“I was overconfident and was in a hurry,” he said.
