National railway operator PT KAI plans to re-open the electric railway (KRL) services between Tanjung Priok and Kota early next month, an official says.
“We are likely to see the line back in operation starting December 1 this year,” Tanjung Priok railway station chief Atin Supriatin said Sunday as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
He added that currently PT KAI and all related stakeholders were discussing the technical details of the move, including ticket prices and daily schedules.
The operator shut down the line in 2004 citing a declining number of passengers and aging infrastructure.
Atin said the reopening of the line was intended to reduce traffic congestion.
