The government of Saudi Arabia has sent the remains of yet another Indonesian migrant worker back home to Sukabumi, West Java, after months of unclear delays.
The worker, Lina Kurniawati, was reported to have died earlier this year.
“We barely had a chance to communicate with her while she was alive. Now we have to live with the fact that she will be no longer with us anymore,” Udin, Lina’s father, said on Sunday as quoted by kompas.com.
Lina was last reported to have worked for a family in Al-Ghasim for two years. However, the family rarely granted her permission to communicate with her own family during that time.
Lina's family were given Rp 75 million in compensation for the loss.
Lina’s death adds to a long list of Indonesian migrant workers who have died abroad for various reasons.
