The Indonesian Independent Journalist Alliance (AJI) called on the government to unveil the cases of 10 murders of journalists. AJI said it was ready to bring the cases before the international community if the government continued to ignore the cases.

Among the names in the list are Mohammad Syaifullah from Kompas who was found dead in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan last year and Anak Agung Prabangsa from Radar Bali who was also found dead last year.

“We also question why the murder of Fuad Muhammad ‘Udin’ Syafruddin from Yogyakarta’s Bernas daily remains unsolved to this day,” Eko Maryadi from AJI’s legal division said on Tuesday as quoted by tempo.com.

Udin was allegedly killed by the authorities due to his critical writings of then-Bantul regent Sri Roso Sudarmo back in 1996. However up to this date, the police haven’t come up with an answer regarding who was behind the murder.

AJI reported there were at least 10 journalist-murder cases around the country that remained unsolved until now.
