Djoko Susanto, the boss of retail firm PT Sumber Alfaria Trijaya, better known as Alfamart, has rocketed onto the list of Indonesia’s new millionaires with a total wealth exceeding that of tycoon Aburizal Bakrie, Forbes magazine revealed on Thursday.

Forbes listed Djoko at number 25 in the list with a total wealth of US$ 1.040 billion (Rp 9.36 trillion). Bakrie’s wealth, meanwhile, amounted to US$ 890 million, putting him 30th in the list.

Djoko’s rise in fortune has been phenomenal as in 2010, his name did not even make it onto the list of Indonesia’s 40-richest people.

Djoko started his business venture with a 560 square-meter shop called Sumber Bahagia in Pasar Arjuna in Jakarta, as reported by kompas.com.
