Firefighters win medals in Singapore

JAKARTA: Governor Fauzi Bowo has announced that five Jakarta firefighters won five gold and three silver medals in the Civil Defense Skill and Competition held in Singapore last September.

“Those medals are simply the result of rigorous hard work and training. I hope the quality does not decline in years to come,” he said during an honoring ceremony, as quoted by kompas.com.

The Indonesian firefighters competed against fire brigades from Singapore, Brunei, Hong Kong SAR, Macau, Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand in the competition.
