AKARTA: Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo will announce the city’s new minimum wage on Friday based on a recommendation from the City Remuneration Board published earlier this week.
Fauzi said that he is still studying the recommendation.
“I will take into consideration the city’s standard costs of living, economic growth and inflation rate in 2011,” Fauzi said.
The board recommended that the minimum wage be increased to Rp 1,529,000 (US$170) a month for 2012. The current minimum wage for an unmarried worker with under one year’s work experience is Rp 1,290,000 per month.
The board consists of representatives from the city administration, labor unions and employer associations.
