An Attorney General’s Office (AGO) official says the prosecutor monitoring commission has received 1,500 reports regarding problematic prosecutors so far this year.

Up to September this year, the commission had followed up on only 196 of the reports and sanctioned the prosecutors involved in various violations.

Most of the prosecutors who received sanctions were from North and South Sumatra, Jakarta, East Java and South Sulawesi.

“However, there were some where there wasn’t enough evidence in the reports, which meant we were unable to present proper sentences,” junior attorney general for monitoring Marwan Effendy said Thursday as quoted by tempo.co.

He added that he had ordered his subordinate officials to tighten monitoring of staff.

“Tough measures will be handed down for any violations,” he said.
