The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) has suspended prosecutor Sistoyo, who is currently being detained by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on charges of alleged bribery, a high official says.
“Attorney general Basrief Arief has signed the letter that orders his suspension,” junior attorney general for monitoring Marwan Effendy said Thursday as quoted by tempo.co.
He added that the AGO would wait for the panel’s ruling first before dismissing Sistoyo.
As a consequence of the suspension, Sistoyo will only receive half of his usual monthly salary from next month.
KPK investigators arrested Sistoyo with two other people, Edward D Bunjamin and Anton Bambang Hadiyono, at the parking lot of Cibinong Prosecutors’ office. During the bust, the KPK also confiscated Rp 99.9 million in alleged bribe money.
Sistoyo was currently handling a fraud case that saw Edward as a defendant.
