Heavy rains that hit Bogor last night triggered a landslide that severely damaged a house, claimed two lives and injured three others.
According to eyewitnesses, heavy rains had caused a 7-meter tall cliff to subside, crushing part of a two-story house occupied by the five victims.
The landslide also damaged five other houses in the area.
As of Friday morning, the remains of Galih Eko Prayuda, 19, had been recovered from the rubble.
A search continued for the remains of Aditya, 9, another family member who was reported missing after the incident.
Survivors of the disaster Dian Rismawati, 39, Poppy, 12, and Nana, 80, escaped death after being buried under the rubble for up to 20 minutes.
Dian said that when the landslide struck, Gailh and Aditya were watching TV, while she was together with her daughter Poppy upstairs.
“At the time, I was reading the Quran with my daughter upstairs. And then I heard a loud noise. The residents saved me,” she said Friday, as quoted by tempo.co.
