The Jakarta Health Agency says it will offer free medication and psychological assistance for flood victims at all district hospitals in the city.

“Medication for flood victims will be free of charge at every local hospital. We have also prepared clinics in Jakarta to provide first aid to the public,” agency chief Dien Emmawati says in a release received by tribunnews.com on Friday.

She explains that diseases that usually spread in flood-inflicted areas include diarrhea, dengue fever and chickenpox.

Apart from providing free medication and treatment at hospitals, she added, the city would also establish a post to provide 24-hour assistance for potential flood victims.

“The health post will operate 24 hours a day, according to the needs of regions affected by floods, and will include psychological counseling services,” she said.

Dien also said the agency had prepared up to 396 health officials to be stationed at several evacuation posts in the city.
