The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) has replaced Suripto Widodo, head of the Cibinong prosecutors' office following the arrest of prosecutor Sistoyo in the office's parking lot.
Sistoyo allegedly accepted Rp 99.9 million in bribe money from a businessman and also handled the businessman's case.
“Our internal examination has proved him guilty over violating ethics,” AGO spokesman Noor Rahmad said Friday as quoted by tempo.co.
When asked who would be the next head of the Cibinong prosecutors office, Noor said it was still being deliberated by the AGO’s human resources division.
“Suripto will be placed here somewhere in the AGO while waiting for the fixed decision,” he said.
Prosecutor Sistoyo and two other people had been arrested by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) over bribery charges. As of now, the businessman in question had acknowledged that he had given the bribe money while Sistoyo denied it, saying that he had been manipulated.
