JAKARTA: Sampang Regent Madura has sent a letter to the Manpower and Transmigration Minister relating to two migrant workers who are facing the death penalty in Saudi Arabia.
The head of Sampang’s Manpower and Transmigration Social Service, Malik Amrullah, said that the regent had requested the Indonesian government seek clemency for both workers.
“The regent also sent a letter to the Foreign Minister,” Malik said on Friday as quoted by Antara news agency. The two migrant workers are a couple, Jumariyah and Solehuddin. They have been detained in a Saudi prison since July 2011.
