The Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Kuningan, Jakarta, has deployed 30 guards to protect English footballer David Beckham and his LA Galaxy teammates during their visit to Jakarta.
“Thirty officers will secure [the team], with one officer assigned to guard Beckham’s room,” a hotel officer, Rohman, said Monday.
LA Galaxy will play the Indonesian national soccer team on Wednesday at Bung Karno Stadium in a friendly match.
LA Galaxy landed at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on Monday morning and proceeded to the hotel.
The foreign footballers and officials are staying in 69 rooms on floors 8, 9 and 10, where only people with special ID cards can enter, during their three-day tour.
Security guards from LA Galaxy arrived a day earlier to discuss the security mechanism with the hotel’s management.
LA Galaxy security officers have been seen in and around the hotel wearing black T-shirts bearing the LA Galaxy logo, tempo.co reported.
