451 RI pilgrims dead during haj this year: Govt

According to data from the Religious Affairs Ministry, 451 Indonesian haj pilgrims have passed away for various reasons during this year’s pilgrimage. Ailments related to circulation were the most common cause of death, claiming 295 lives.
“From the [total] amount, 295 were men and 156 women,” Evi Al Hudhori from the Religious Affairs Ministry said Monday as quotedby kompas.com.
Evi said most cases (334) were over 60 years of age at the time of death.
She added that pilgrims from Surabaya had topped of the list, with 84 deaths, closely followed by pilgrims from Surakarta with 80 deaths.
