Five candidates pass KIP ‘fit and proper’ tests

JAKARTA: The team charged with choosing the members of Jakarta’s Public Information Commission (KIP) says that five people have passed the final stage of the selection process.

Ida Mahmudah, the chairman of the Jakarta Legislative Council’s Commission A overseeing administration, said that the candidates’ names were submitted to council speakers for endorsement.

“The names will later be handed to Governor Fauzi Bowo,” Ida said, declining to reveal the names the candidates.

Local governments were required to establish public information commissions under the Freedom of Information Law. Registration for commission membership opened in August
