The importation of personal computers to Indonesia dropped
by 6.2 percent to 1.3 million units, when compared to the volume in the
previous three months, due to floods in Thailand.
“The impact will extend to the first quarter of 2012 and we
can also expect higher prices for PCs during the recovery period," the
International Data Corporation (IDC) Asia Pacific research manager for client
devices, Daniel Pang, said in a press statement on Wednesday.
He added that there would be a slight reduction from the previous
forecast of 5.2 million units to be shipped this year.
He said that from a total 1.3 million units in the third
quarter, about 65.4 percent had come from the consumer segment and 34.6 percent
from the commercial segment.
According to data released by IDC, in the third quarter, Acer
maintained its number one position in the Indonesian PC market, followed by
Asus and Toshiba.(drs)
