Thousands to attend blogger community get together

Bloggers from Southeast Asian countries will gather at the ON-OFF Pesta Blogger 2011 event in Jakarta on Saturday to share ideas about the digital situation in their respective countries.

The ON-OFF 2011 blogger party is an annual event organized by communication consultant company Maverick Indonesia and incorporating Acer and the US Embassy.

“The event shows the development of Pesta Blogger, which has taken place since 2007,” Aulia Halimatussadiah, ON-OFF 2011 chairwoman, told The Jakarta Post in a media briefing on Thursday.

She said that this year’s theme - “Ideas meet opportunities” - was intended to encourage collaboration between those with ideas and those with the opportunity of realizing these ideas.

“We are targeting a minimum of about 1,500 people participating in the event,” she said.

Attendees will be from the likes of Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia. (drs)
