New KPK frontman Bambang to keep using public transportation

Newly elected Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) deputy chief Bambang Widjojanto says his appointment as a top antigraft official will not stop him from taking public transportation, such as trains and motorcycle taxis, to work.

“I will carry on doing the same commute [taking public transportation] to work, as long as it does not contravene any protocols; the only problem may possibly be the security issue,” he said Sunday in Jakarta, as quoted by tribunnews.com.

He said he was aware of the risks involved in his new job, however, and would therefore be more cautious about his safety.

“We still have to be careful, and surrendering ourselves to God is also important,” Bambang said.

He added he had no plans to move to a house closer to the KPK office in Kuningan, South Jakarta.

“Why would I? My children go to school here; my house has always been here. Besides we do not get an office house do we?” said Bambang, who lives in Depok, West Java, and was recently praised by a group of train passengers, calling themselves KRL Mania, for his willingness to take trains, a service known for its lack of comfort and convenience due to problems with lack of capacity.
