Earthquake rocks Papua

An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter Scale hit the southwestern area of Oksibil, Bintang Mountains, Papua, on Monday at 3:53 a.m. Indonesian Eastern Time.

The Bureau of Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics said that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 14 kilometers at 5.4 degrees latitude and 14.40 degrees longitude, Antara reported.

The tremor was felt in Tanah Merah, Boven Digul and Dekai, Yahukimo.

No reports regarding damage have yet been received.
