Jakarta governor Fauzi Bowo
said that Jakarta
did not have a long-term strategy to prepare for floods.
“What we are going to do
is an ad hoc strategy,” Fauzi said on Monday as quoted by kompas.com.
Fauzi said that the
existing embankments were not strong enough to cope with the expected floods.
He pledged to build high
embankments to prevent floods, adding that the embankments would last for decades.
