Blues legend John Mayall to perform at Jakarta Blues Festival

British blues legend John Mayall will be the main performer at the 4th Jakarta International Blues Festival at Istora Senayan on Dec. 17.

“John Mayall is a legend. Thanks to him we can become familiar with the blues,” the committee chairman of the festival, Oding, said on Tuesday as quoted by tempo.co.

This year’s festival is themed “Keepin’ the Blues Alive: In Blues We Trust”. It will feature local blues artists such as Gugun Blues Shelter, Abdee of Slank band, Balawan, Sandhy Sondoro and many more.

Gugun Blues Shelter is expected to be the opening act for John Mayall’s performance, the tickets of which range from Rp 150,000 to Rp 500,000.

The festival will also feature a number of international blues musicians such as Kara Grainger (Australia/US), Shun Kikuta (Japan), Kim Mok Kyung (South Korea), Soulmate (India) and Bopomofo (Taiwan).
