Pertamina to supply gas to Transjakarta next year

State-owned oil and gas firm Pertamina President Director Karen Agustiawan said the company would supply up to 4 million metric standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) of gas to Transjakarta buses in 2012.
Karen said, as quoted by tribunnews.com, that the gas supply would support Jakarta’s plans to add 202 more Transjakarta buses, giving the city a total of 674 busway buses in operation.
“All of the buses will require a total of 6.4 mmscfd of gas,” she said.
To meet the demand, Pertamina would need more gas stations in Jakarta, she said, adding, however, that the company needed the Jakarta administration’s commitment to providing land for the construction of new gas stations.
“Without the support and involvement of the local administrations, it would be very difficult for us to support the conversion of fossil fuel to gas,” she said.
