Iwa K stuck in the 90s

J

span class="inline inline-left">JP/R. Berto WedhatamaJAKARTA: Rapper Iwa K admits he doesn’t care much about keeping up with the times, evident in his slouchy denim jeans and oh-so-yesterday oversized T-shirts. For the 41-year-old, the key to dressing is comfort.

“I know I can’t pull off skintight pants and body hugging tops. I’m comfortable with my sense of style. If it’s deemed old-fashioned, then so be it.

“Just like my music, I will only do things that I’m comfortable with,” he said, adding that people often joke about his 90s appearance, as quoted by kompas.com.

Iwa, who won the best rap performance award at the 1999 Indonesian Music Awards, is reportedly the best selling Indonesian rapper to date. His career reached its peak in the 1990s when he released four successful albums, including Topeng and Mesin Imajinasi.
