Water tariff for industry in Tangerang to increase 20%

A- A A+

The Tangerang city water company will increase the water tariff for Soekarno-Hatta airport and local industries by more than 20 percent as of Jan. 1, 2012, the company president director said on Wednesday.

President Director of PDAM Tirta Benteng, Achmad Marju Kodri, said that the tariff of water for the airport will increase from Rp 6,000 to Rp 8,000 per cubic meter, while the tariff for industry will increase from Rp 6,500 to Rp 9,000 per cubic meter, tempo.co reported.

The rate for household consumers will remain unchanged.

Kodri said that the water tariff had not increased in the past five years while the water production costs had risen, particularly because of pollution in the water source, the Cisadane river.

The company currently produces 3,200 liters per second every day. It distributes 80 liters per second for the airport, 10 liters per second for industry and the rest is for 22,000 other consumers in Tangerang city.
