Police score big in W. Jakarta bust

Jakarta
Police has announced confiscating a large haul of drugs in raid in Kampung
Ambon in West Jakarta on Thursday afternoon.
The
operation seized 6,531 ecstasy pills, four ounces of crystal methamphetamine
(locally known as shabu-shabu), four
firearms, 50 grams of heroine, 15 sharp objects, 4 kilograms of marijuana, 600
happy five pills, 1,000 water pipes and a total of Rp 218 million (US$24,222) in
cash.
The
police also arrested 53 people in the bust, who were allegedly the owners of
the contraband, drug dealers and drug users.
“Kampung
Ambon has long been known as a home of drug dealing. There are some houses that
are even used as places for drug users,” Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. Untung
Suharsono Rajab said Thursday as quoted by kompas.com.
He added the police had been well prepared before the raid. Around 500
personnel from Jakarta Police, the Indonesian Military and the Jakarta
administration took part in the operation
