Jakarta Police has announced confiscating a large haul of drugs in raid in Kampung Ambon in West Jakarta on Thursday afternoon.

The operation seized 6,531 ecstasy pills, four ounces of crystal methamphetamine (locally known as shabu-shabu), four firearms, 50 grams of heroine, 15 sharp objects, 4 kilograms of marijuana, 600 happy five pills, 1,000 water pipes and a total of Rp 218 million (US$24,222) in cash.

The police also arrested 53 people in the bust, who were allegedly the owners of the contraband, drug dealers and drug users.

“Kampung Ambon has long been known as a home of drug dealing. There are some houses that are even used as places for drug users,” Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. Untung Suharsono Rajab said Thursday as quoted by kompas.com.

He added the police had been well prepared before the raid. Around 500 personnel from Jakarta Police, the Indonesian Military and the Jakarta administration took part in the operation
