Amien Rais supports Hatta’s presidential bid

The head of the advisory council of the National Mandate Party (PAN),Amien Rais, said he supported the presidential bid of PAN chairman Hatta Rajasa in the 2014 Elections.

“When asked about running for president in 2014, Hatta could not give an exact answer. In this national meeting we will appoint him as a candidate for president,” Amien said on Friday during the opening of the party’s national meeting at the Jakarta International Expo.

The meeting participants cheered Amien’s statement, saying “Long live Hatta! Hatta for President!”

Amien described Hatta as one of the best PAN members, as well as one of the nation’s finest sons.

Amin also urged PAN members to work hard and to show passion for the Indonesian people.

“If you want Hatta Rajasa to become president and want PAN to get ‘double digit’ [votes] in the 2014 Elections, you have to work harder and spend your money in God’s way,” he said, as quoted by Antara news agency.
