Workers have found the body of a man killed in the Tenggarong Bridge collapse in East Kalimantan, bringing the death toll in the incident to 22.
National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said the body of the victim, identified as Anas, was found
near Kilometer 6 of the Tenggarong highway at 8 a.m. local time (7 a.m. Jakarta time).
Tenggarong Bridge, which connects Tenggarong and Tenggarong Seberang in Kutai Kartanegara, suddenly collapsed at 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 26.
The bridge was established during the tenure of regent Ahmad Maulana Sulaiman’s between 1994 and 1999.
However, the bridge - known as “Indonesia’s Golden Gate” after its counterpart in San Francisco, in the US - was completed in 2001 under former regent Syaukani Hasan Rais, the father of the incumbent Regent Rita Widyasari.
