Greater Jakarta: Familial rift suspected in harassment case

J

AKARTA: Jakarta Police general crimes chief Sr. Comr. Gatot Eddy Pramono has stated that there may be a rift between E.K., a victim in a sexual harassment case in Depok, West Java, and her husband T.S., a police officer.

“You can say that they are distant and that the wife has a lover,” Gatot told reporters at his office on Wednesday. However, Gatot refused to confirm if this was the reason behind many irregularities found at the crime scene by investigators and whether the case was fabricated.

“The investigation is ongoing. Right now, I can only state the facts. The public can judge for themselves,” he said.

E.K. was allegedly sexually harassed early Sunday when she was home alone. Her husband was on duty as the Pamulang Police crime investigation unit head in South Jakarta at the time of the incident.

Irregularities found at the crime scene included the front door, from where E.K. said her attacker entered the house but which was tampered with from the inside, and a screwdriver that was allegedly used to break in the door but which had E.K.’s fingerprints on it.
