Ten students from Bung Karno University remain in detention at Jakarta Police headquarters on Thursday after a rally turned violent.

The students were taken into custody after Central Jakarta Police chief Snr.Com. Angesta Romano Yoyol was injured when he was hit by a stone thrown from the crowd of protestors on Jl. Diponegoro on Wednesday.

He was taken to a nearby clinic and then to Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital.

Central Jakarta detective chief Snr. Com. Gatot Edy Pramono said students were still being questioned about the incident, kompas.com reported.

The students demonstrated to support for their peer Sondang Hutagalung, who died after setting himself on fire in front of the State Palace last week.
