Rhoma has no mercy for music pirates

JAKARTA: It seems that dangdut king Rhoma Irama has no mercy for piracy, as he reportedly set up a meeting with East Java’s police chief, Hadiatmoko, to discuss the illegal copies of his music massively sold in the region.

“The purpose of my visit is to extend my moral support to the police force in its efforts to end piracy, following a report launched by the Indonesian Recording Entrepreneur’s Association,” said the legendary singer.

Rhoma praised the police’s success in confiscating 4,779 pirated CDs and DVDs of his work. He said everyone must be involved in the war against piracy, as the illegal practice has corrupted society.

“Pirated products have dominated around 90 percent of the market,” he lamented.
