Earthquake hits Palu

An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale rocked the city of Palu in Central Sulawesi on Monday morning for about 30 seconds.

Many residents panicked and ran out of their houses when the quake struck, antaranews.com reported.

The Bureau of Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) said the center of the quake was 39 kilometers southwest of the city at a depth of 10 kilometers.

There have been no reports of damage and casualties.
