“The defendant has been found guilty of corruption,” said presiding judge Marsuddin Nainggolan as he referred to the SEA Games graft scandal defendant, as quoted by tribunnews.com.

Marsuddin also said that witness statements had proven that the money was a “success fee”.

The verdict is lighter than the six years in prison and Rp 250 million in fines demanded by prosecutors.

Wafid allegedly received Rp 3.2 billion (US$374,400) from PT Duta Graha Indah (DGI) as a kickback from the company after it was awarded a contract for the construction of the athlete's village for the SEA Games in Palembang, South Sumatra. (swd)
