A love story of former president B.J. Habibie and his late wife Hasri Ainun Habibie, which was written in a book called “Habibie & Ainun”, will make its way to the widescreen.
MD Entertainment producer Manooj Punjabi, who will produce the film, came up with the idea to turn the 37-chapter book into a film, tempo.co reported.
Currently, the movie producer is discussing the plan with a team from Habibie’s side, including preparing the script and casting the actors.
The story will begin from the time when Habibie went to college in Aachen, Germany and will move on to when he married Ainun in Bandung and when he returned to Germany before he was sworn in as a president in 1998, replacing late former president Soeharto who quit amid nationwide public protest.
The shooting, which will take place in several cities in Germany, will begin in January.
The movie is scheduled for launch on Aug.11, the date of Ainun’s birthday.
The “Habibie & Ainun” book comes in several languages, including English, Arabic and German.
“This book is talking about love, which is a universal thing, so the book can be read by the international society,” Habibie said on Monday in a press statement.
