Politician likens himself to Beckham

JAKARTA: Politician Ruhut Sitompul has proudly likened himself to phenomenal soccer player David Beckham – not for his looks, but for his preference to move from one place to another in career.

Ruhut revealed his plan to inilah.com on Tuesday a possibility to leave his current political party, the Democratic Party, because of opposition from a few colleagues.

Lawyer-turned-lawmaker was previously enlisted as a member of Golkar political party before joining the Democratic Party.

“I am just like Beckham. I am professional and when I am humiliated I will walk out from the Democratic Party,” he said referring to Beckham’s move from Manchester United (MU) to Real Madrid due to conflicts with MU coach Sir Alex Ferguson.
