Indonesian documentary film Negeri di Bawah Kabut (A
land in the fog), received a Muhr Asia Africa
award at the 8th Dubai International Film Festival.
“The movie produced by young producer Shalahuddin Siregar
was among 10 finalists in the Asia Africa Documentary category,” said Adiguna
Wijaya, first secretary with the Indonesian Consulate General in Dubai as
quoted by kompas.com.
The movie depicts the lives of farmers in Genikan village
on the slopes of Mount Merbabu in Central Java, who refer to the traditional
Javanese lunar calendar in farming.
Negeri di Bawah Kabut is the first Indonesian documentary to receive such an
honor at the festival, which ran from Dec. 7-14.
Film producer Shalahuddin said the award was proof of the
international community’s recognition of Indonesian filmmakers. (iwa)
