A Bandar Lampung Police officer was attacked and knocked out while
making a traffic stop on Thursday.
The officer, identified as First Brig. Conny, was directing traffic
near the Lampung Legislative Council building before the arrival of Lampung
Police chief Brig. Gen. Jodie Rooseto for a planning meeting for Christmas and
New Year celebrations
According to First Brig. Hendry, an eyewitness, Conny was attacked
after he stopped a large dark-skinned man on his motorcycle who was driving
without a helmet.
“Conny initially wanted to give
the man ticket for not wearing helmet and not turning on his motorcycle’s
headlight,” Hendry said on Thursday as quoted by tempo.co.
“He stopped the man, who directly put up a fight and kicked him in the
stomach and his vital organs, making him lose consciousness” Hendry said/
Nearby officers quickly arrested the man and brought him to Bandar
Lampung City Police headquarters, while Conny was admitted to a nearby hospital.
A search of the man’s motorcycle found a package of crystal
methamphetamine and a small dagger. (iwa)
