Bengkulu mosque imam held for allegedly sexually abusing boy

The imam of Nurul Iman mosque in the Tanjung Sakti hamlet of Pondok Kelapa village, Pondok Kelapa district, Bengkulu, is in police custody for allegedly sexually abusing a boy.

Head of the Pondok Kelapa precinct police Adj. Com. Rudi Marwah said that the suspect, Sr, 54, was arrested on Thursday following reports from the victim’s aunt, Mustika, tempo.co reported.

Mustika said that Sr abused her nine-year-old nephew on Wednesday at the back of the boy’s grandmother's house, which is located in front of Mustika’s house.

She said when she visited the grandmother’s house, she saw Sr running away naked from the back of the house. Being curious, she checked the back of the house and found her nephew lying on the ground.

The boy told Mustika that Sr had given him some money before abusing him.
