City dismisses PAM Jaya CEO

The Jakarta city administration abruptly dismissed Maurits Napitupulu, president director of city-owned water company PT PAM Jaya on Thursday.

“I received the (dismissal) letter today [Thursday],” Maurits said as quoted by tempo.co.

According to Maurits, he only knew about his dismissal when he received the letter and did not know the reason.

“The letter does not state the reason,” he said.

He added he had just presented PAM Jaya's year-end evaluation to the public on Thursday afternoon prior to receiving the dismissal letter.

Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo confirmed the dismissal but refused to give further comments. (iwa)
