Letter: Still paradise for corrupt officials

A- A A+

I refer to an article titled “Youth and Sports Minister secretary gets 3 years in prison,” (Dec. 19, The Jakarta Post online)

Well, it seems Indonesia is still paradise for corrupt officials. Three years for Rp 3.2 billion and after serving one-third of the time in jail, he will be back to his old job.

It is really a lucrative job engaging in corruption in Indonesia. The minister of Law and Human Rights plans to stop remission for jailed corrupters and terrorists, but the House plans not to reject the regulation. Even going to use (or misuse) their power to interpellate. The House has too often shown to favor corruption and many of them behave like corruptors.

We do hope Abraham Samad and his deputies will be able to bring Indonesia to an admirable position in the world as a civilized and well-governed nation led by a true leader who uses his government to serve his people.
