W. Java to deploy 12,492 police personnel

About 12,492 West Java Police personnel will be deployed to secure the Christmas and New Year’s Eve celebrations, a top officer has said.
“West Java Police are included in the police priority I list, along with the Papua Police, Southeast Sulawesi police, East Nusa Tenggara Police and North Sulawesi Police,” West Java Police chief Insp. Gen. Putut Eko Bayuseno said on Thursday as quoted by kompas.com.
Putut said he had urged all personnel to provide security for citizens during the Christmas and New Year’s Eve celebrations.
He added that he also asked personnel to be alert to possible terrorist attacks. (drs)
